This jewellery is individually hand made in Turkey, as it has been for many centuries.
Patterns are created by knotting the high-quality silk or cotton thread with a small needle.
The history of Turkish Needlework – or Needle Lace – goes back to the roots of Turkish traditional hand crafts and society. The flower designs, many of which you can see in the A Keles Collection, go back to a time when women would make keepsakes for their husbands in times of war.
This is a beautiful craft tradition which we are pleased to help keep alive by stocking in the Doghouse.
