Tamielle’s workshop was founded in August 2007 out of a deep belief that designers can play an important role in creating work for people in need. The handkerchiefs are a wonderful product. They are hand embroidered by a group of ladies in Bulgaria, each hanky has the name of the lady who made it. Work is scarce in this part of Bulgaria and the work helps women from disadvantaged backgrounds have a pride in themselves and keeps traditional skills alive.

The boxes in which the hankies are packed, are made by Elijah – a lovely 73 years old man. He works with his brother and his family in their small factory. Everything is hand made – using the same techniques he learned from his father, as a child in Syria.

Many different styles are available, boxed individually or in 3′s.
